Reflection Part 1

 Reflection

Looking over my work from the beginning of this assignment which feels like a very long time ago. On reflection I perhaps spent too much analysing and over thinking the warmup task. I spent a lot of time sourcing fruit and then it went off before I’d finished the assignment. I should have made this a quick project and then moved onto the selecting and identifying assignment.

When I finally moved onto selecting and identifying I felt uncertain with which direction I should head in, due to lockdown museum where closed and I learnt that looking through online archives did not work for me. I much prefer to have the item in front of me looking at the items, feeling them and being able to move them.

Throughout all of the assignments I have enjoyed the more experimental tasks, having done mark making during the foundation course some of the work felt repetitive. I wanted to make it more interesting by pushing myself out of my comfort zone and being more experimental with the lines and marks.

I enjoyed looking at the archive items and flowers with a different view. Spending time analysing small intricate details that would normally pass me by.

The research points throughout the assignment helped me to relate my work to other artists and to use their work to help influence my work. Adding colour into my work and using artists such Hockney and Takashi Murakami and their bright vivid colours have excited me and I am looking forward to using more colour with moving into Part 2. I also want to remain more focused throughout Part 2 and set myself stricter deadlines to ensure the units are completed in a timely manner.
