As soon as I saw this brief I knew the way I wanted to display my yarns. The yarns that were currently living in a box. I wanted to create another book although I knew this was the route I wanted to take the same route as my colour studies book. I had found my colour studies book invaluable in this last assignment. Referring back to it on a number of occasions. Having all the work in a handy book made it easy to locate at refer to.
Now I had decided on how best to display the yarns, these were a lot different to the flat colour work displayed in the other book. I felt the best way to display the yarn was to use the white strong card, to stark white background helping to display the beauty in the yarn pieces.
I did not want to permanently attach the yarns to the card so opted to use the invisible yarn to stitch the yarns into place. Placing the yarns in either a vertical or horizontal direction depending on which direction displayed the yarn best. Some yarns were also better displayed curved around, rather than out stretched. I laid the yarns out before attaching them to the card to visually work out the best placement of the yarns.
Putting together the book together displaying the piece in order of completion with an image of the work making it easier to refer back to the work. I also felt the book needed a front cover, using a new app to create collages https://www.adobe.com/express/create/photo-collage. Using a mix of some of the interesting yarn images from inside the book.
Overall I felt the book was the right route to take for my work as it will become a tool I can use and refer back to in future works. I would look to create libraries of work like this in future.
