Summary of tutorial discussion
Demonstration of
technical and visual skills, quality of outcome, demonstration of creativity
–
You have created a broad selection of experimental samples
for this assignment using a good range of materials and techniques. These have
included both machine stitching as well as hand stitching. You have challenged
yourself and utilised materials that were close to hand, making good use of
easily accessible materials which has been particularly useful during Covid but
this is such a good way of exploring materials that would otherwise go
unnoticed.
It can be good sometimes to make a few samples on the same
theme and try to experiment with a variety of different threads and yarns to
compare and the differences.
Context, reflective
thinking, critical thinking, analysis –
Your learning log is concise and
clear with documentation of both your achievements and the items you found
harder to achieve. You are using it to show a dialogue with yourself, try to
continue to expand on this as you go through your courses. We discussed ways
that may help you to document your thinking as you go along to help with
writing up your learning log. These ideas included keeping a notebook whilst
working or annotating your sketchbook, see if these help. You have selected an
artist to research whose work relates directly to your own work for this
assignment, it would be good to reinforce this connection by relating some of
your samples to his work.
Well done on this assignment! I
look forward to seeing your work for the next assignment.
